Week 8: Training, Teamwork, and Tactical Insights

LAPD Cadet Academy | Class 08-2026

Week 8 of the LAPD Cadet Academy provided recruits with another exciting opportunity to learn, grow, and challenge themselves through a combination of specialized instruction, physical training, and drill.

One of the week’s highlights was a presentation by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit. Recruits gained valuable insight into the specialized responsibilities, training, and teamwork required of SWAT personnel. The presentation offered a unique perspective on the dedication, discipline, and professionalism necessary to serve in this specialized assignment.

In addition to the SWAT presentation, recruits continued developing their physical fitness through Physical Training (PT) and strengthened their discipline, coordination, and teamwork during drill instruction. These activities reinforced the importance of perseverance, accountability, and working together toward a common goal.

As Class 08-2026 progresses through the academy, each week presents new opportunities to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and push beyond personal limits.
